Sammamish this week
The proposed 2027–28 budget spends $220.3 million against $204.0 million in revenue. The $16.3 million gap comes from savings, almost all for one-time capital projects; no new debt is planned. Police and fire contracts are the largest increase, up 24.7% to about 44% of General Fund spending. Fire Station 83 gets $8.5 million. October 20 packet
Council goes through the budget department by department October 27 and 28. Both special meetings run 6:30 to 9 PM at City Hall and open with public comment. Budget and levy hearings follow November 4 and November 17, when adoption is possible. The proposal includes the statutory 1% property tax increase plus banked capacity. Budget page
Building 120 goes to a council hearing November 17. The change would make the 21.5-acre city site at 120 228th Ave NE a Mixed Use Center, opening a rezone from R-6 to Community Business: up to 18 homes an acre instead of 6, and 60 feet of height instead of 35. The Planning Commission's recommendation goes in that meeting's packet. Work session packet
SE 32nd Street gets a new sidewalk and bike lane. For about eight weeks from October 19, crews build 630 feet of sidewalk and bike lane on the north side between 241st and 244th Avenues SE, weekdays, with flaggers. Cone Zone
The October 31 recycling list is out. At Eastside Catholic School, 9 AM to 3 PM: up to six passenger tires free, electronics, TVs, and lead-acid and alkaline batteries. Printers and copiers are $5 cash; no lithium-ion or rechargeable batteries. Event page

Beaver Lake. Beaver Lake Park is on winter hours: 7:30 AM to dusk from October through March. The lake's public ramp allows electric motors only. Park page

The market in 60 seconds
Across city of Sammamish listings, the median home sold for $1.39M over the last 30 days (53 closings; single-family alone $1.45M). The median home took 61 days from listing to closing, and there are 4.6 months of inventory on the market.
Against last week's count, the median is down from $1.49M, days on market rose from 58, and inventory eased from 4.8 months as active listings fell to 246 from 263. The two 30-day windows share most of their sales, so one week's move says little about direction. About one home in eleven (9%) closed above asking, so most buyers still have room to negotiate. At 4.6 months the market is balanced: under three months favors sellers, above six favors buyers.
One useful thing: who handles what when a storm hits
Wind and rain bring down trees and power lines this time of year. City crews clear debris on city-owned land and streets; a tree that falls on private property is the owner's to remove. Power lines belong to the utility, so report outages to PSE and stay well clear of any downed line, assuming it is live. Keep extra food, water, flashlights and spare batteries on hand, and sign up for Alert King County for emergency notices. City of Sammamish · Alert King County
