This week's poll
Clocks fall back Sunday. Which trail do you walk most once evenings get dark early?
The market in 60 seconds
Across city of Sammamish listings, the median home sold for $1.40M over the last 30 days (60 closings; single-family alone $1.44M). The median home took 56 days from listing to closing, and there are 4.0 months of inventory on the market.
Against last week's count, the median is up slightly from $1.39M, days on market fell from 61, and inventory tightened from 4.6 months as active listings slipped to 241 from 246. The two 30-day windows share most of their sales, so one week's move says little about direction. About one home in eight (12%) closed above asking, so most buyers still have room to negotiate. At 4.0 months the market is balanced: under three months favors sellers, above six favors buyers.
One useful thing: clocks back, alarms tested
Daylight saving time ends at 2 AM Sunday, November 1, when clocks fall back an hour. It is an easy date to test every smoke alarm in the house: press the button on each one. Federal fire guidance is to test monthly, replace 9-volt and backup batteries at least once a year, and replace the whole alarm every 10 years. Alarms belong inside and outside each sleeping area and on every level. NIST · U.S. Fire Administration
Reader asked
A reader in Aldarra pointed out that our October 14 post on school days missed a district. Sammamish is not split only between Lake Washington and Issaquah: a small area in the city's eastern residential part is in the Snoqualmie Valley School District, the reader's part of Aldarra among it, served by Fall City Elementary, Chief Kanim Middle and Mount Si High. On that district's 2026–27 calendar, the next day with no school is Wednesday, November 11, Veterans Day. To check which district and schools serve any address, the district's boundary map takes a street address. City budget, p. 25 · District calendar · Boundary map Know a neighbor asking the same thing?
