Sammamish this week

Building 120 reaches the council Tuesday, after tonight's Planning Commission hearing. The commission takes testimony at 6:30 PM on the map change for the 21.5-acre city site at 120 228th Ave NE. The council's long-range calendar puts a briefing at its 5:30 PM work session October 20 and the council's own hearing on November 17. The October 20 regular meeting also lists the proposed 2027–28 budget, the Sahalee corridor, draft 2027–28 council goals and a 2027 legislative agenda. Council calendar, October 6 packet

New homes in the Lake Washington district would pay $8,810.25 in school impact fees from January 1, down from $10,914.75. That rate covers single-family homes with three or more bedrooms; under the new bedroom-count formula, every other Lake Washington category drops to $0, and the Issaquah district stays at $0. The city collects the fees for the districts; council holds hearings and votes November 17. October 6 work session packet

A 9.27-acre rezone off SE 1st Street goes to the hearing examiner Friday, October 23. Owners of four parcels at 214th Ave SE and SE 1st Street ask to move from R-1 (one home per acre) to R-4 (four per acre); city staff recommend approval. The hearing is virtual, at 10 AM. A rezone approves no construction on its own. Hearing notice · Event page

The fall recycling and shredding event is Saturday, October 31, 9 AM to 3 PM, at Eastside Catholic School, 232 228th Ave SE. It is free; items with fees are cash only, and no vehicles enter after 3 PM. The city says the accepted-materials list is published closer to the date. Event page

And one for Saturday: city staff run a free Planting and Tree Care 101 session, 1 to 2:30 PM, October 17, at Confluence Park, 595 Rainier Blvd. N. in Issaquah, with tools provided. Event page

The market in 60 seconds

Across city of Sammamish listings, the median home sold for $1.49M over the last 30 days (55 closings; single-family alone $1.57M). The median home took 58 days from listing to closing, and there are 4.8 months of inventory on the market.

That is balanced territory: under three months favors sellers, above six favors buyers. Single-family homes are a little tighter, at 4.4 months, with 217 of the 263 active listings, and 7% of homes closed above asking, so most buyers still have room to negotiate. This week's count covers city listings only, so it is not a like-for-like comparison with issue 1's ZIP-wide numbers.

One useful thing: leaves belong in the cart, not the drain

Sammamish has about 12,000 storm drains, and fall leaves are what clog them. Rake leaves away from the grates and gutters near your house and put them in the yard waste cart or compost; the city warns that raking or blowing leaves into the street can bring a warning or a fine. A drain backing up after hours goes to Public Works dispatch, 425-295-0700, any time. Volunteers can also adopt a drain and keep it clear. City of Sammamish · Adopt-a-Drain
