Good morning, and welcome to the first Sammamish Dispatch. Five minutes on what moved in Sammamish this week, one item for your own neighborhood, the market in three numbers, and one practical thing for the house.
Sammamish this week
Tree crews take one lane of 228th Avenue, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, from today through October 30. The work runs both directions from Issaquah-Pine Lake Road to the city limit on Sahalee Way; the city says to expect delays. Through Friday, stormwater-pipe camera inspections also bring occasional single-lane closures on 208th Avenue, 210th Avenue, 210th Place SE and 222nd Place NE at NE 16th Street. Cone Zone, October 9
Building 120 gets a land-use hearing Thursday. The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 PM on October 15 in Council Chambers, City Hall, 801 228th Ave SE, and streams online. It hears a proposal to re-designate the city-owned site at 120 228th Ave NE, 21.5 acres with a 30,800-square-foot building, from Neighborhood Residential to Mixed-Use Center, which would allow a later rezone to Community Business. The building's use has not been decided. The same night: a hearing on a 2019 request to change the transfer-of-development-rights program. The commission recommends; council decides. The 2027–28 budget arrives October 20. The city manager presents the proposed two-year budget at the 6:30 PM council meeting that Tuesday; special budget sessions follow October 27 and 28, and the budget and property tax levy hearings are noticed for November 4. The squeeze, in the city's words, is structural: property tax, its largest ongoing revenue, can rise only 1% a year without voter approval, and the city receives about 8% to 12% of a resident's total property tax bill, depending on school district. One useful thing: November 2, not October 31
The second half of 2026 King County property tax is due Monday, November 2. The usual date is October 31; when it falls on a weekend, the deadline moves to the next business day. Mail a check postmarked by the due date to King County Treasury, 201 S. Jackson St., Suite 710, Seattle, WA 98104, with your account number on it. If a mortgage company pays from escrow, the county says to call that company if the payment still isn't showing ten days past the due date. Questions: 206-263-2890. King County Treasury · FAQ
